How Gabriel Macht Turned La'dor Bakhur Into 2024's Most-Talked-About Perfume

How Gabriel Macht Turned La'dor Bakhur Into 2024's Most-Talked-About Perfume

Funny enough, just before this campaign dropped, I'd been binge-watching Suits for the first time completely late to the party, I know and fell hard for Harvey Specter. The confidence, the suits, the one-liners, all of it. So when I found out Gabriel Macht had signed on as the face of Laverne, fronting their fragrance La'dor Bakhur, it felt almost too on the nose.

I got my hands on a bottle not long after, practically the day it landed on shelves. I remember unboxing it at my desk, half-expecting nothing special, and then that first spray hit smoky, resinous, dead serious about itself. It wasn't just a scent, it felt like a mood shift. Wearing it genuinely made me stand a little taller, like I was about to walk into a boardroom and close a deal I hadn't even pitched yet. Aspirational is an understatement.

This perfume outlasted my gym membership (I only went twice).

What struck me most, watching the fragrance space from 2024 onward, is how Laverne's move seemed to nudge the whole market more niche houses chasing Hollywood faces instead of regional celebrities, betting a familiar face could bridge East and West. Whether that's the reason Arabic and Middle Eastern niche perfumes started becoming popular in the West, I couldn't say for certain but it's hard not to connect the dots.

Either way, Macht made this scent cool for people who'd never smelled it before. Myself included.
