What Beautyworld Taught Me as a First-Time Entrepreneur

Walking into Beautyworld Middle East for the first time was overwhelming in the best way. I'd built MYSQ from my laptop in Poznań, sourcing bottles, learning KSeF invoicing, figuring out margins the hard way but nothing prepares you for standing in the middle of Dubai World Trade Centre with over 1,700 exhibitors from dozens of countries, all under one roof.

As a first-time entrepreneur, the show became less about buying and more about learning how the whole fragrance supply chain actually works. I sat down with manufacturers I'd only ever emailed, walked booths run by distributors who'd been in the game for decades, and had conversations with brand reps that would've taken months of cold outreach to arrange back home. The scale of it raw materials, finished perfumes, packaging specialists,  made it obvious why people fly across the world just to attend.

What stuck with me most was how open everyone was to a small brand from Poland. Nobody cared that MYSQ was young. They cared that I showed up, asked the right questions, and knew what I wanted to bring back.

If there's one thing running MYSQ has taught me, it's that collaboration with the right distributors and manufacturers isn't just part of the business it's the entire backbone of it. A perfume brand lives or dies on its supply chain. You can have the best branding in the world, but if your sourcing, warehousing, and distribution aren't rock solid, none of it matters.

Since Beautyworld, that network has genuinely exploded. What started as a handful of manufacturer contacts has grown into a sprawling web of suppliers, warehouses, and distribution partners stretching across the Middle East and Europe the kind of network that took some brands a decade to build. Every new connection opens another door, another warehouse, another supplier who can get us stock faster and cheaper.

That trip is basically why some of your favourite fragrances now sit on a shelf in Poznań instead of staying a search result away.
